Below are hints and tips on the best ways to care for you flowers and plants.
Aqua Bouquets
Your bouquet can be left in it's aqua pack for up to 48 hours. After this time the water will need to be changed so snip the base of the water bag over the sink to release the water. Remove the lower packaging, the upper gift wrap can be left on if desired or remove with care but do not untie your flowers. Fill a vase with tepid water, add flower food following the instructions on the packet, cut approx. 5cm from the end of the stems, for best results cut stems at an angle. Stand the hand-tied design in the vase. Always keep flowers in a cool draught free area, out of direct sunlight away from radiators and fruit. The cooler the room the longer the flowers will last. Remove any faded blooms as soon as possible. Change the water in the vase twice a week. |
Hand Tied Bouquets
Leave the gift wrapping on if desired, or remove with care but do not untie your flowers. Remove 1" from the base of the stems, for best results cut stems at an angle. Stand the hand-tied design in a vase filled with tepid water with flower food added following the instructions on the packet, Keep the flowers in a cool, draught free area, out of direct sunlight away from radiators and fruit. The cooler the room the longer your flowers will last. Remove any faded blooms or foliage as soon as possible. Change the water in the vase twice a week. |
Roses
Upon receipt of your roses remove 1" from the base of the stems with a sharp knife, do not use scissors or crush the stems as this will prevent the roses taking up water. If your roses are in a tied bouquet do not untie them unless you wish to. Place the roses in a deep vase filled with water with flower food added. Change the water in the vase twice a week. If the heads start to flop cut off the base of the stems as above and place in 1" of boiling water as soon as possible. Keep the roses away from draughts, fruit and radiators, the cooler the room the longer they will last |
Basket Arrangements
Do not stand basket arrangements on polished surfaces or televisions in case of leakage. Keep the basket in a cool, draught free area, out of direct sunlight away from radiators and fruit. The cooler the room the longer your basket arrangement will last. Remove any faded blooms or foliage as soon as possible. The flower stems are held in green oasis, this must be kept wet at all times. |
Orchid Plants
The Orchid thrives best at a room temperature between 17-22 degrees Celsius. Take care not to site the plant too near a radiator or open fire. Place the plant in a light spot, but out of direct sunlight. Water the plant with approximately 1 cup of water (50cc) per week or immerse the pot once a week and let it drain well afterwards. Don’t let the soil in the pot dry out. Don’t let the plant’s roots rest in water; so make sure excess water doesn’t collect in the pot or the tray. You can use a liquid fertilizer once a month; however this is not essential After the flowers are gone, cut the stem approximately 20-25 cm above the soil (or above the stem's second node) and place the plant in a cooler, light spot (for example a bedroom or attic). Water the plant once every two weeks and after some time, a new bud will appear between or under the leaves. Add some liquid fertilizer once a month to encourage growth. After two months, return the Orchid to room temperature and you will be rewarded once again with a beautiful flowering orchid. |
Plants & Planted Baskets
Do not stand plants on polished surfaces or televisions in case of leakage. Most plants can be mist sprayed lightly but not hairy leaved plants. Avoid draughts and direct sunlight. Planted bowls and baskets should be kept in a fairly warm room with good light, keep soil moist but do not overwater or allow to stand in water. Ensure all plants receive water. Feed once every two weeks in spring/summer. Remove any damaged/faded leaves and faded blooms. |
